Description
How It Works
Dovato is a combination medication containing two active ingredients: dolutegravir and lamivudine. Dolutegravir belongs to a class of drugs known as integrase strand transfer inhibitors (INSTIs), which work by blocking the action of an enzyme called integrase. This enzyme is responsible for inserting the genetic material of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) into human DNA, thereby preventing the virus from multiplying. Lamivudine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that works by blocking the action of another enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which is essential for HIV replication. Together, dolutegravir and lamivudine help to reduce the amount of HIV in the body and improve immune function.Side Effects
