How It Works

Exemestane is an aromatase inhibitor, used primarily in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It works by reducing the production of estrogen in the body, a hormone that can promote the growth of breast cancer cells. Specifically, Exemestane blocks the enzyme aromatase, which is responsible for converting androgens into estrogens in peripheral tissues. By lowering estrogen levels, the growth of estrogen-dependent tumors is slowed down or stopped.

Mechanism of Action:
