How it Works
Vyndaqel, also known as tafamidis, is a medication used in the treatment of transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR) in adults with symptomatic polyneuropathy. ATTR is a rare, progressive disease characterized by the abnormal accumulation of misfolded transthyretin protein, leading to tissue damage and organ dysfunction. Tafamidis works by stabilizing the transthyretin protein, thereby preventing its misfolding and aggregation into amyloid fibrils. By stabilizing the transthyretin tetramer, tafamidis helps preserve organ function and slow the progression of the disease.Side Effects
