    Description

    How It Works

Praluent works by inhibiting a protein called proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). PCSK9 binds to low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on liver cells and promotes their degradation. These receptors are responsible for removing LDL cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol) from the blood. By inhibiting PCSK9, Praluent increases the number of LDLR available to clear LDL cholesterol from the blood, thus lowering the overall cholesterol levels.

    Conclusion

Praluent (alirocumab) is a crucial medication for managing high cholesterol levels in patients who require additional LDL cholesterol reduction. By inhibiting PCSK9, Praluent enhances the liver’s ability to clear LDL cholesterol from the blood, thereby lowering overall cholesterol levels. Patients should be aware of potential side effects and contraindications, and consult their healthcare provider for personalized advice. The cost of Praluent varies across different countries, reflecting variations in healthcare systems and pricing policies. Exploring financial assistance programs and discussing options with healthcare providers can help manage the cost of treatment effectively.
